Wedding Videographer in Kilkenny: What to Know Before You Book

October 22, 2026

Planning a wedding means making dozens of decisions, and some are easier than others. Choosing the right venue might come down to how it looks and feels. Choosing a wedding videographer takes a little more thought because the finished film will become part of how you remember the day.

If you are getting married in Kilkenny, consider what you want recorded before you start comparing services. Do you want the full ceremony and speeches? Would you like footage of the morning preparations? Is a short highlight film enough, or would you prefer a longer documentary edit as well?

Answering these questions will help you choose a package that suits your wedding rather than paying for coverage you do not need.

O'Neill Wedding Videos, based in Wexford Town, provides wedding videography throughout the South East, including Kilkenny.

Why Wedding Videography Is Worth Considering

Photographs capture individual moments. Video preserves movement, voices and the atmosphere around them.

You can see the expression on someone's face during a speech, hear the laughter that followed a story or watch the ceremony unfold again. These details often become more meaningful with time, especially when family members and friends are part of the footage.

A wedding film also gives you a record of moments you may not have seen yourself. Couples are usually busy greeting guests, following the schedule and enjoying the day. They cannot be everywhere at once.

A videographer helps bring those separate moments together into one film.

What to Look for in Wedding Videographer Packages in Kilkenny

Package descriptions can be difficult to compare if you focus only on the price. Look carefully at the coverage and final products included.

You can review all three options on the O'Neill Wedding Videos packages page.

Choosing the Right Style for Your Wedding

A wedding film should feel natural to watch. You do not want to spend the entire day worrying about where the camera is or whether you are doing something correctly.

When viewing a videographer's previous work, look at how people are filmed during the ceremony, reception and speeches. Consider whether the editing suits your taste and whether the final film feels like a record of a real wedding.

It is also worth watching more than one example. A short promotional reel can show the strongest moments from several weddings, while a longer example offers a clearer picture of the videographer's approach.

If you have a particular style in mind, explain it during your enquiry.

Hiring a Wedding Videographer Near You in Kilkenny

Searching online for a wedding videographer near me in Kilkenny can help you find available providers. Remember that a videographer does not necessarily need to be based in the county to cover your wedding there.

O'Neill Wedding Videos is based in Wexford and regularly travels across the South East, including Kilkenny. Ask about availability for your venue and whether any travel arrangements need to be considered.

Before booking, discuss the venue layout, ceremony timings and reception plans. If you are holding the ceremony in one location and the reception elsewhere, make sure the proposed coverage allows for the journey.

The Details Worth Discussing Before the Wedding

The most useful booking conversations happen before the wedding day. Once the schedule becomes busy, there is little time to work out missing details.

Tell your videographer about any readings, performances or planned surprises. If there are particular people you want featured, mention them in advance. You can also identify any moments that you would prefer not to have filmed.

Discuss how the ceremony and speeches will be recorded. Clear sound is particularly important for personal vows, readings and family speeches, so ask how audio will be handled at your venue.

Finally, confirm the expected editing and delivery timeframe.

When Should You Book?

Make enquiries as soon as your date and venue are confirmed. Summer weddings and popular weekend dates can be in demand, so leaving videography until the final weeks may limit your options.

You can start with a simple enquiry containing your date, venue and approximate schedule. You do not need to have every detail settled before asking about availability.

If you are comparing more than one provider, use the same questions for each. That makes it easier to compare what you will actually receive.

Keeping Your Wedding Film Safe

Once your film arrives, take a moment to organise it properly. Keep your USB in a safe place and save a digital backup somewhere separate from the original device.

O'Neill Wedding Videos provides USB and digital delivery with its listed wedding packages. Having more than one copy can make it easier to watch the film again in the years ahead.

If you have older wedding recordings on VHS or other tape formats, the business also offers a transfer-to-USB service for preserving existing footage.

Book a Wedding Videographer in Kilkenny

The best time to think about your wedding film is before the day arrives. Decide which parts matter most, compare the package inclusions and choose a videographer whose work feels right for your celebration.
